These colourful Acrylic Blanks are ideal for cutlery handles, small finials, lace bobbins…and, of course, pens!
These hard wearing blanks are from Poly(methyl methacrylate), are great fun to turn and can be used in a myriad of different ways.
Each blank measures 20 x 20 x 150mm. They are fairly easy to turn and drill; keep your chisels sharp and when drilling remove small amounts at a time.
These blanks do not require finishing – there is no coating that can be applied that is tougher than the acrylic and getting a coating to even adhere to the surface is very difficult.
We recommend sanding to a smooth finish then using Burnishing Cream for a final cutback to give a bright gloss finish. An application of Microcrystalline Wax will help to keep them looking pristine and fingerpint free for a considerable time if they are likely to be handled a lot, especially at sales events.
